Aching wait, a restless tread,
Teeth clenched tight, and spirits shed.
Another dawn, a stark reveal,
Like rolling stone, the earth I feel.
Grinding low, a pulverizing sound,
My heavy teeth upon the ground.
Gnawing at the soil, my present lease,
A drained existence, no release.
Pilfered, strangled, life withdrawn,
Exhausted presence, bleakest dawn.
Unjustly bled, for human vice,
A heavy, self-inflicted price.
Unwanted slumber, mind astray,
A dreaded alarm, come what may.
To be, or not to be, the call,
Mitigate the impact, stand up tall.
Lessen the blow, this heavy dread,
Protect the mental spaces, home in my head.
